Succesfull second reporting period for ESSIAL

The second reporting period ended at the end of April this year. After some difficulties due to the slowdown caused by the COVID-19 restrictions, the ESSIAL partners were able to achieve successful results in many parts of the project.

Both the European Commission's Project Officer and the external expert praised the project's successes and achievements over the past two years. In particular, the project has managed to meet and exceed its target of reducing metal losses by 20%, while increasing permeability, which could lead to significant improvements in a wide range of electrical machines.

Some of the project's Work Packages (WPs) are now nearing completion, notably those relating to material, coating and laser treatment development (WP2), and magnetic studies (WP3). The proof-of-concept work package (WP4) is also well advanced

The challenge for this project coordinated by ESIEE is now to successfully complete the work on the industrial prototypes (WP5), to ensure that the final result of the project is appropriate for the market players using this type of material. Finally, the upgrade for industrial production lines and technical-economic studies (WP6 & WP7) is planned for this last year and represents also a key step of the project in order to be really integrated on the market.
